Earlier this month we had a chance to catch up with San Francisco’s Horse Thief.
What bands are you listening to right now?

White Fence - Sun faded, salt washed and nicked. Both releases sound like an honest return to their genre. White Fence is a departure from today and a blissed out heat beat trip into a sandy shanty somewhere on the beaches of tomorrow.

The Dutchess and The Duke - My friend picked up their cassette at 1-2-3-4-go records in Oakland, and ill never forget that instant summer evening feeling it inspired on the drive back to the city in the truck. The patchwork concrete and that sunset and the urban sprawl all syncopated in some momentary eternal balmy moment right then. Twangy under produced and forward moving songs infused with poetry and possess a grain that could have come out of daniel johnston’s basement and which will leave you lonely, only in the best kind of way.
How about songs?
You and Me, Penny & The Quarters
A warm up/demo on an eccentric soul mix, which must be a million times better than a studio version could have come out. A really nice song to share only with a true hearted person. (mckn st is true hearted so this counts.)
Down in the Boondocks, Billy Joe Royal
Go watch live performances - Billy Joe was poised as a heart throb but seems to have been a total beautiful loser. That makes this song all the more appealing. His voice, his awkward slant, Billy Joe was a freak like the rest of us. Lord have mercy.
Any albums we should know about?

Oh Graveyard You Can’t Hold Me Always, Mississippi Records
A collection of 60’s and 70’s post war gospel and blues. The most special record i own.
